World Taichi Day, UCI April 25, 2009

The World Taichi and Qigong Day event this year took place at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), California on April 25, 2009 (UCI World Tachi and Qigong Event web page). Our Wuji Qigong Taijiquan school participated in the event to promote Taichi principles and practice to the public. About fifteen of us showed up at the event. Most of senior students attended, including Roger came down from Northern California. We got to UCI around 11 am in the morning. After a bit of confusion about parking and how to get to the event location, somehow we all managed to meet at Tamkin Hall on the other end of the vast UCI campus. We picked a grassy area near the main building and started our practice. Master Ho Nan Jie took us through a quick warm up, demonstrated Taichi applications and push hand exercise to students and audiences. His push hand and chi projection techniques generated a lot of interests from the audience. Lot of people walking by and were attracted by Master Ho's demonstration. They started to gather around our area to watch. Quite a few people recognize Master Ho and exchanged greetings. One person said "Tony, I saw people was flying over here and I knew it was you so I came over to say hi". A few audiences even participated in push hand exercise with Master Ho and other students of the school. Most were amazed by how easy they were lifted off their feet. The event ended around 1:30 pm. After that some of us had to leave. The rest of us met at the University Center for some tasty Asian fusion lunches. We have some videos on Youtube to share with you. Enjoy.

An Introduction to Wuji Qigong Taijiquan

Wuji Qigong Taijiquan was formally found in 2003 after Great Grandmaster Anthony Nan Jie Ho had researched the original taijiquan philosophy for many years. He took the name of the first posture in the Taiji form "Wuji preparation" to name his taijiquan style "WuJi". Wuji means the stage before the formation of yin and yang. "Wuji preparation" is indeed an original and a natural qigong exercise, which is the basis of Taijiquan.

Taiji and Qigong classes are taught at the club house at the corner of Paseo Westpark & Hamilton Street in Irvine, CA 92614, every Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Any question regarding the school or classes, please contact Jacquie Liu at her email address grannywild@socal.rr.com
